Hurricane Katrina Destroys Thousands of Businesses, Small and Large
The resent tragedy of Hurricane Katrina makes us all think of the terrible losses in both life and property. All of our prayers go out to those affected.
Many Could Have Been Saved
This horrible situation demonstrates how important Off Site Computer Backup is. Just think of all the thousands of businesses that lost everything. Most will have no way of surviving, even if they had insurance to cover the material losses. If they did not have a good off site backup, then most likely they lost all of their customer records, current accounting records, current projects that were on their computers, correspondence, etc. This will add greatly to the negative economic impact of this storm.
Is Your Business Safe?
Is your business protected against catastrophic loss? Does your current backup method pass the test of being available if something terrible hits your business?
I am sure there were many businesses that had backup tapes in the same building as their destroyed equipment. I am sure there are thousands of backup sets that people diligently took home to protect, just to be lost when their homes were also destroyed.
A good Off Site Backup routine would have saved 10s of thousands of businesses in this disaster. Backing up your critical data to an off site location is the only way to protect your business. Also, the off site location where your data is kept should be geologically separated from your business location. If you live in Newton Iowa, and your off site backup is in Newton, Iowa, then you risk the loss of everything should Newton be effected like New Orleans was.
Act Now
While we provide Off Site Backups thru our AutoBak system, you may want to have your data on a system somewhere else in the world. By doing a Google search of Off Site Backup, you will find hundreds of services that can help you from all over the world. If you want to check out our offerings, simply go to www.autobak.com.
Off Site Backup may seem expensive on the surface, however, it is the ONLY way to protect your business's essential data.
Again, we send our prayers and best wishes to all of those affected by the hurricane.
